In what was a surprise move earlier this month, KoalaPlay Group closed its dry play division that sold, manufactured and installed Delta Play soft-modular-play units and Foam Factory and Ballocity foam play units. The company laid off all the sales, manufacturing and installation staff associated with dry play. Word-on-the-street is that Koala suffered sizable loses this past year with the installation of several wet play units in waterparks, including a mega-structure at one of the Six Flags parks. There is also information that the entire company may be up for sale or that at least Ballocity will be licensed to another company to sell and manufacturer, but not the Foam Factory. It may be that KoalaPlay Group intends to subcontract work out for the Foam Factory. We'll report more on this next issue as things unfold.
