The 28th Foundations Entertainment University held in Las Vegas March 18-19 in conjunction with Amusement Expo attracted 63 attendees. Here they had the opportunity to learn from seven of the industry’s top consultants, designers and operators (over 200 years of combined industry experience!) on the A to Z’s of developing and operating family entertainment centers and location-based entertainment centers. Attendees included a broad international representation from Brazil, India, Dominican Republic, Ukraine and Canada.
Foundations is happy to introduce its newest speaker, Kevin Williams, a 27-year industry veteran from London, founder of KWP consultancy, author of the Stinger Report and perhaps the world’s most knowledgeable expert on digital out-of-home interactive entertainment. Kevin gave a high level presentation entitled Must Have Approach to Entertainment on the key elements now shaping the Digital Out-of-Home Entertainment (DOE) sector and their affect on the future of the FEC. After briefly charting the factors that created the industry, he then examined the four innovations shaping new business (Connectivity, The Social Experience, Physicality and Immersion). Finally he outlined the objectives to move forward and explained how the new DNA Association hopes to support operators in this effort.
The next Foundations Entertainment University will be held July 16-18 in Chicago at the Hilton Rosemont Hotel located just two-miles from O’Hare Airport. Unlike the 2-day Las Vegas event, the 2.5-day Chicago seminary program will be limited to only 40 attendees on a first come basis to assure the intimacy of the workshop and opportunities to network and meet one-on-one with the instructors. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit and have behind the scene tours of the Enchanted Castle family entertainment center, King’s bowling lounge and the outdoor Sugar Grove Family Fun Center. Attendees can also attend the half-day Remarkable Parties & Groups: Past, Present & Future seminar immediately following Foundations for only an additional $10. Registration is now open.
Foundations Entertainment University is now in its 10th year and is considered the platinum standard for family entertainment center and bowling industry education. It is a not to be missed program for anyone planning to develop, renovate or expand a location-based entertainment center.
