Editor's corner

This month five of our articles are focused on food and beverage due to its growing, perhaps critical importance to the success of venues that offer entertainment.

We excited about our newest clients:

  • We're designing the Twin Waters Entertainment Center in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. It is an adult-oriented eatertainment facility that will include a destination restaurant and sports bar, VIP bowling and a game room. Our work not only includes architectural and interior design, but also development of the menu and kitchen design. We conducted the market and financial feasibility study for this FEC several years ago.
  • We're working with an existing laser tag operator in the Mid-West to develop an upscale boutique laser tag, bowling and restaurant and bar facility.

You can read about our Moo Town, USA project that opened earlier this month in this issue. Club Liko, the children's edutainment center we designed in Cairo, Egypt is finally scheduled to open this September for real after delays due to two revolutions (and people developing projects in the West think they have challenges!). Salma, Club Liko's owner is coming to Chicago next week to work with us and visit BellaBoo's Play & Discover Center we designed a number of years ago for the Lake County, Indiana Parks Department.

Among a number of other projects, we are in the middle of design of a 40,000 square foot expansion to Silverlake, The Family Place, a 13-year-old client. The expansion will include a major entertainment and edutainment components for its fitness and swim members.

In a few weeks I'm off to visit Helio Center, the large FEC and entertainment center we designed in Vietnam that opened in February. I hope to bring back some good photos to share with you.

And not long after that I'm off to present at the new expanded 2.0 version of Foundations Entertainment University in Chicago. This Foundations is an absolute not-to-be-missed event. Read about it below.

By the way, if you haven't signed up to follow my occasional blogs, here are links to catch up on my latest two:
