Birthday
parties are a significant revenue source for most entertainment facilities,
often accounting for 20% or more of revenues. We couldn't resist passing on
to you a recent commentary on birthday parties titled The Patent-Leather
Boot of Tyranny by Meghan Cox Gurdon that appeared in National Review.
It begins, "Is there any more oppressive American institution than birthday
parties for children? Any greater sign of abject servitude of modern parents?
I can't think of anything, unless you want to bring up school tuition, and
that is going up nicely all by itself, thank you very much."

Review Online (PDF copy).
