There's a surge of trendy food halls happening all over America that showcase local and independent restaurants. An estimated 340 food halls are currently open across the country, with another 127 expected to open in 2024. Gen Zs and Millennials are driving the craze, with about two-thirds dining at a food hall at least once a month. The higher cost of food halls doesn't seem to keep them away.
The foodie appeal of many of the food selections in food halls is raising Gen Z's and Millennial's expectations for the uniqueness, variety, and quality of food they will get elsewhere, including at location-based entertainment venues they choose to visit.
