If you've been shopping recently at a Trader Joe's where they have 27 different pumpkin and pumpkin spice products including Pumpkin Recipe Dog Treats, at Starbuck's with their Pumpkin Spice Latte and Frappuccino, at Dunkin' (Donuts) with their many pumpkin offerings or at many other stores and restaurants, it's hard to not notice the prominence of pumpkin flavored and pumpkin spice food and drink products this Fall. Consumer interest, and obviously purchases, have continued to grow over the years. Here's how interest has grown since January 1, 2004 based on Google searches for “pumpkin spice.”
Speaking of pumpkins, this year Steve Geddes of Boscawen, New Hampshire grew the largest (heaviest) pumpkin even recorded in U.S. history weighing in at 2,528 pounds. That's 1.25 tons, more than some small cars weigh. He won $6,000 in prize money at the Deerfield Fair for his accomplishment.
