Arcade bars are popping up in cities all over. One of the most recent additions is Headquarters Beercade with two locations in Chicago. The River North location takes in 12,000 square feet on two floors and has three bars, tons of vintage video games and pinball machines and a full kitchen. They also offer the option to leave cell phone at the check-in station so you can focus on more important things like getting a high score on Transformers pinball.
Owner Brian Balati says the games are secondary to the venues menu and eclectic vibe. "People think this is a easy trend to exploit," he says. "But it takes a lot to really care about it."
