We have been featuring stories in this eNewsletter about the spreading concept of mass customization, known as have it your way. Now comes customized cookies, baked to order in just 2 minutes. Sweet Flour Bake Shop in Toronto, Canada, introduced the concept, and I’m sure we’ll soon see it spreading throughout the world. That’s exactly what happened with the concept of mix-in ice cream, with shops such as Maggie Moo’s, Marble Slab Creamery and Cold Stone Creamery popping up.
Sweet Flour Bake Shop customers have 15,000 possible combinations to choose from. First, they begin by selecting the cookie dough base: original, peanut butter or oatmeal. Then they choose from among 27 mix-ins, including dried blueberries, chocolate chucks, macadamia nuts and toffee pieces. And presto, 2 minutes later, the customized cookies are ready to devour. Cookies are C$2.50 each or C$19 a dozen. Not a cookie fan? Sweet Flour also offers customized muffin tops and a signature homemade granola with mix-ins and fresh fruit.
