Last issue's article, The death of entertainment; welcome to the new mindset of leisure experiences, generated a lot of reader feedback. Here's a comment we received from one of our agritainment clients:
"First, a comment on the thought-provoking article contrasting entertainment and leisure perspectives of the consumer in your last eNewsletter. As pertains to Fall Harvest Festival time, the industry focus seems to be providing entertainment. Everyone always talks about what attraction(s) are working and what the next great attraction is going to be, as if that is the primary reason folks are coming to the farm. Certainly, that is an important part of the experience. However, for some time now something about this paradigm just did not seem quite right to me. I have not been able to put my finger on it until your article. I am certain the leisure component is as important as the entertainment part."
