Recent Projects

First Steps, Spartanburg, South Carolina
Provided on-site visits and technical assistance to First Steps providers who are working on NAEYC accreditation. Included doing pre-visit work between the director and staff as well as follow up with the First Steps staff on an outdoor improvement plan. In addition, an all-day training session was provided for Directors on designing or redesigning outdoor space, and two sessions were provided for teachers on how to use the outdoor environment.

Mueller Family, Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Provided an on-site visit to a family home in the Grand Teton Mountains in Jackson Hole. This is my second visit to this beautiful setting, and if you have not yet seen this part of the U.S., I highly recommend a trip. Created a family playroom for the Mueller children that will include a gross motor wall, pretend village, arts and crafts center, construction area, children's living space and fantastic library.

National Association of Child Care Professionals Annual Conference, Boston, Massachusetts
Provided a workshop for this membership-based group of early childhood center owners and directors on how to create naturalized outdoor space.

Leadership Connections Conference, Wheeling, Illinois
Provided a workshop for directors on how to create naturalized outdoor spaces -- and include both staff and parents in the process.

Nibbles Play Café, Wheeling, Illinois
Completed the construction drawings and specified the furniture for a children's play café that will open this fall. Plans include a changing dramatic play area, performance space, art studio, water table, train table and infant/toddler play space.

Institute on Creating Sustainable Environments for Young Children, Nebraska City, Nebraska
Organized and coordinated a two-day training for designers and early childhood staff to learn more about how to create environments that are healthier for children and Mother Earth.

Millard Public Schools Foundation, Omaha, Nebraska
Provided technical assistance and reviewed building plans for a proposed early education center. Work included reading and reviewed the business plan for the center.

Lake County Park District, Crown Pointe, Indiana
Met with Lake County Park District staff to coordinate the opening of a children's play and discovery center designed and produced by the WHLLG team.

Family entertainment center, Western Texas
Examining the feasibility of redeveloping a vacant Wal-Mart as a family entertainment center in a small town.

Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, Farmington, Pennsylvania
Working on designs to convert a former 48,000-square-foot retail store at the luxury Nemacolin Woodlands Resort into a multi-generational entertainment complex.

Silverlake Family Recreation Center, Erlanger, Kentucky
Assisting the client with feasibility and projections for an outdoor water park addition and working on feasibility and preliminary designs for a 50,000-square-foot building addition to incorporate family entertainment, a restaurant, children's enrichment workshops and celebration facilities for this popular Northern Kentucky 70,000-square-foot fitness, health, recreation and swim club. Part of our work includes the re-branding of Silverlake Family Recreation Centerto become a multi-faceted family club: Silverlake – The Family Place.

Mother Nature's Farm, Gilbert, Arizona
Completing a master plan design and working on zoning approval to expand this agritainment attraction to include a farm store, farm restaurant and children's discovery farm.
