AUTUMN'S WEALTH

The cantaloupes are tiring of their blooms,
Tomato plants have done their best,
The golden sun now spreads its fading hue.
As it sinks slowly in the west.

The tall cornstalks are drying in the field.
Tiny chipmunks rustle through the trees.
And sweet potatoes wilt after an abundant yield.
Sweet William looks on with yellowing leaves.

The sun is dim and fading from the scene.
As cold November skies are ushered south.
And though summers here are long and green,
They can't hold a flame to autumn's wealth.
