2024 leisure trends report

Lane/Terralever has issued a report on attractions and location-based entertainment destinations (LBEs). Here are some highlights from the report.

They identified four main customer groups.

Here are the prime motivations for the four groups:

  • The Attraction Affluent - Being the first to experience and at the front of the lines. They primarily visit FECs and amusement parks.
  • The Raving Fans - Unique experiences and opportunities to socialize while enjoying the entertainment. They like zoos, aquariums, and FECs.
  • The Smart & Sustainable Seekers - Meet up in groups in a fun, affordable, casual place that offers unique experiences. They enjoy water parks, museums, and science centers.
  • The Socializers - They like combination experiences of edutainment and entertainment with sustainable practices they can feel good about spending their time and dollars on. They primarily visit FECs, zoos, and aquariums.

Nearly three-quarters of Gen Z (74%) visited a family entertainment center last year. Young Millennials were second, with 69% visiting an FEC last year.

Online reviews/ratings and attraction websites are considered the most useful for planning a visit to a local attraction.

Word of mouth and online reviews are the greatest catalysts to motivate all generations to visit a local attraction for the first time.

Nearly six in 10 Gen Zers and Millennials consider an attraction's commitment to sustainability extremely or very important.
