Cancun, Mexico

We believe that the first for-profit children's edutainment center was the Wol-Ha center located in the main town of Cancun, Mexico (not the tourist area) we designed and produced in 1994 for one of our Mexican clients. The children’s edutainment center, then also known as a pay-for-play center, was part of the overall $US7 million, 35,000 square foot facility we designed that also included a 20-lane bowling center and a McDonald’s restaurant. The children’s edutainment portion was the equivalent of about a 15,000-square-foot freestanding center.

Wol-Ha translates to ‘The Island’ in Mayan. Wol-Ha won the 1994 Newsmaker Award for Best International FEC.
