Surfing in the desert

By now we're sure you've heard about skiing in the desert in Dubai. Of course, it isn't literally outdoors in the desert, but rather indoors at Ski Dubai in the Mall of the Emirates.

Well now you can unleash your inner daredevil near the neighboring town of Al Ain in the U.A.E. at an adventure water park where you have surfing and kayaking in the desert, and this time it is outdoors. In fact, at $54 million Wadi Adventure you can also go whitewater rafting and traverse the sky adventure on a giant ropes course, zip line and a giant swing, which is not for the timid.

The 3.8-milllion-gallon surf pool can generate 11-foot (3.3-meter) high waves every 90 seconds. A wide variety of world famous surfers are coming to Wadi Adventure to train including Australian surfer Sally Fitzgibbons and Maui surfer Mart Meola.

There are other surfer parks under construction or being planned, including a 35,000 wave pool in Sochi, Russia.
