Social cricket eatertainment coming to America
Yes, you read that correctly. A cricket-themed social participatory
eatertainment venue is coming to Dallas and is scheduled to open this
summer. It's an import of
Sixes Social Cricket (sixescricket.com/ )
which has six locations in the U.K. The U.S. location will open with the
launch of Major League Cricket franchises in cities nationwide, including
Dallas, Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington, D.C., and New York City.
Sixes" refers to the points ("runs") earned when a batter ("batsman") hits
a small ball that is hurled at the ground by the pitcher ("bowler") with
the intent of knocking over three sticks (the "wicket"). If the batsman
hits the ball and passes over the field boundary before it hits the ground,
it's a six or six runs. (If the ball hits the ground before crossing the
boundary, it's a four.) If the bowler knocks over the sticks, it's an out.
Sixes Social Cricket (sixescricket.com/ ) will feature
tech-enabled batting nets for guests to try swinging for the boundaries
with soft cricket balls (the real ones could cause serious damage) to earn
points by hitting targets.

Although cricket is played and enjoyed in countries that were part of the
British Empire and in Holland, the real question is whether Americans, who
are unfamiliar with it, want to try it and repeat the experience at Sixes
Social Cricket. Batting is not new to America. The question is will they be
interested in learning the rules of cricket?
Sixes Social Cricket's menu will be burgers, shared plates, wood-fired
pizzas, and a full bar with classic cocktails, beer, wine, and shakes.
