Americans' diets are diverse
Americans' opinions on whether to actively avoid salt, sugar and fat vary significantly based on age, education, and race and ethnicity.

The majority of Americans actively avoid sugar (51%) and fat (50%) and roughly four-in-ten avoid salt (42%). However, there are variations among subgroups.
When it comes to salt, Blacks (57%), 65 and older (50%) and college graduates (44%) rank highest among their demographic categories.
Blacks & Hispanics (59%) and 65 and older (58%) rank highest in avoiding fat.
Hispanics (55%), 65 and older (56%) and college graduates (62%) rank highest in avoiding sugar.
Implications for CLVs
When preparing menus, community leisure venues need to take into consideration Americans efforts to avoid or reduce these three food ingredients.
