Editor's corner
It's been a busy time since our last issue. We have multiple projects underway in a various stages of feasibility, design and construction. I was recently in Monterrey, Mexico where we're assisting the planning for a large mixed-use project with its mix of restaurants, food-oriented retail and play and entertainment. In a week I'll be heading to Berlin, Germany to start work on an eatertainment project there.
This month's issue is primarily focused on the fast changing world and looks at a number of trends affecting the community-based entertainment and eatertainment industry including food culture, the growing competition of digital screens and how we're bunkering down at home in our digital cocoons.
An article in last month's issue, Virtual and augmented reality - the ultimate disruption of place (www.whitehutchinson.com/ news/ lenews/ 2016/ february/ article107.shtml) , looked at the growing threat of these fast emerging technologies to location-based venues. If you're interested in following the developments with VR and AR, you should follow my Twitter account, as I'm posting some of the most pertinent news about them there. You can follow me at https://twitter.com/whitehutchinson. You won't be overwhelmed with tweets, as rarely do I post more than five a day, and often less.
I hope you enjoy this issue and find some articles of value to your work.
