Recent Projects

BellaBoo's, a Children's Play & Discovery Center, Lake County, Indiana
Completed the ordering process for the children's play and discovery center to be operated by the Lake County (Indiana) Park and Recreation Department. This lengthy process includes working with vendors on custom equipment such as a large, multi-leveled water table that has dams and water chutes, a multi-level train table, two children's working kitchens, a pretend kitchen and a pretend supermarket. All that is in addition to ordering the thousands of loose parts it takes to keep young children engaged in play. School field trips are being developed, so the center can host local childcare facilities and public schools. One of the school field trips will be on the Indiana Bat, which by the way is the costume character for Bellaboo's.

Ventura College Kinko's Child Development Center, Ventura, California
Nearing completion of design development documents for renovation of four outdoor play spaces for this college lab school. One of the unique features about the yards is that children can rotate among them if needed. Some interesting features of the yards include a musical climbing turtle, flex-space, custom storage for dramatic play, a safety tryke track with drive-through storage shed, a bush maze and a re-circulating stream.

United Way Success by Six, Greenville, South Carolina
Performed community research, visited existing child care centers, analyzed market demand and met with community collaborators in writing a feasibility study for the Child Development Institute.

Rock Brook School, Skillman, New Jersey
Visited a school for children ages 5-14 with multiple disabilities and communication impairment to evaluate their outdoor space for possible expansion. Included writing an improvement plan for the existing space and meeting with teachers.

StoneFire Pizza Co. Play Garden, Kenosha, Wisconsin
Completed the schematic design for a new outdoor garden to be located at another location for our client, StoneFire Pizza. This garden will be a play and discovery place for children ages 2 through 7 and includes a custom play house, custom general store, custom pretend pizza restaurant, large musical area and dinosaur/sand dig area.

Teton County Child Care Project, Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Selected as a finalist for a large child care project to be located in Jackson Hole, the ski capital of the West in the Teton mountains. And yes, it really is as beautiful as this postcard. This might be our third project in this spectacular setting, but the first time we have arrived in the winter, hopeful to see the herds of resident elk.

Children's Play, Discovery & Enrichment Center, Lagos, Nigeria
Designed preliminary plans; preparing financial feasibility for a 4,000-square-meter (43,000-square-foot) indoor-outdoor children's play, discovery and enrichment center.

Children's Department Store, Eastern Europe
Working with an Eastern European retailer to integrate play and discovery concepts into a children's department store. It has been interesting learning about the culture of this former Soviet-controlled country.
